Detailed lesson plan to achieve level three:
Circle-walking
After the previous two levels of learning and training, the body technique and body core/ hip area should be corrected. Then, each according to his/her problems, should correct each, now seeking to set the environment to be able to ‘change the bones to be reborn’.
Explanation of circle-walking: method of circle-walking and rotating, simple shuanyao methods, method of uniting the whole body by compressing the bones.
2. Baguazhang techniques
(1) Dragon techniques
• Tiaoda methods: power release in tiaoda, principle of combining vertical and horizontal, stationary power release.
• Yezhang methods: power release in yezhang, coiling and advance and retreat.
• Tazhang methods: power release in tazhang, methods of improving tazhang skills, methods of joining tazhang.
• Pizhang, qiezhang, and xiaozhang: training methods for the three skills of pizhang, qiezhang, and xiaozhang, eight alternate ways of doing them.
• Daishou eight alternate methods: short and long power release methods, methods of changing over direction of power release, method of continuous power release, eight alternate ways to practise daishou.
• Fanbeichui eight alternate methods: eight alternate methods of training fanbeichui, power release.
• Principles and methods of simple combinations: chuanzhang combined with tanzhang; gaizhang combined with fanbeichui; shoulder strikes, zhuangzhang, and daishou combinations; chuanzhang combined with daishou; chuanzhang combined with fanbeichui.
(2) Lion techniques
• Lion plays with ball, rolls the ball, holds the ball: changing between the techniques and applications.
• Lion techniques combined and changing from one to the other: tanzhang, qiezhang, pulling daishou, zhuangzhang, coiling.
(3) Eagle techniques
• Eagle continuous techniques.
• Principles of eagle’s qiezhang, fanbeichui, tanzhang, chuanzhang
(4) Single hook techniques
• Principles and applications of the deerhorn knives.
• Simple routine for the deerhorn knives: opening, changover posture, continuous postures, hooking and leading, coiling.
3. Baguazhang deep skills
(1) Shuanyao methods: Basic principles and methods of shuanyao. Deeper research and discussion of tendon changing and bone changing health enhancing principles.
(2) Developing hidden power: method of hidden power release for zhuangzhang, daishou, and coiling.
(3) Baguazhang’s tendon changing, bone changing, kidney changing, marrow washing, and other Daoist self cultivation methods: Principles of tendon changing, principles of bone changing, principles of kidney changing, and baguazhang’s detailed cultivation methods.
4. Baguazhang routines
The 128 form routine
Must be able to perform the 128 form routine clearly, well, and comfortably. Must be able to perform all the techniques as individual drills. At this level will be a high level routines coach (since the other two routines have been lost)
Goals and requirements at this level.
The person should have reached the level of having a body with abundant qi and blood, and a full, rounded body, and have changed the tendons throughout the body, have developed the hidden power of baguazhang, and have used the hidden power training to improve the deep strength and techniques.
