1. First single-hook change: single change

dangou huanshi

This trains the transverse stance, chuan stabbing, and shoulder strike. The footwork is like the dragon's single palm change – a simple koubu and baibu.

Description: starting in single-hook form with the left hand into the circle.

Action One: Right koubu, settling into the right leg. Turn the left palm down but essentially do not move the arm.

Action Two: Left baibu, brace across with the left hand, keeping the weight back in the right leg.

Action Three: Hook the left hand and step the right foot through to bring right hand through to chuan on the line of the circle, then turn to point to the centre.

The variations of the change are not in any specific order. They are numbered for convenience and this order may be adjusted later.
